Ballroom dancing is a lot of fun and is great exercise, but you need to make sure that the shoes you wear are made for ballroom dancing. Ballroom dance shoes come in many different styles, colors and heel height.
If I am practicing a lot, I like the lower cuban heel, but for social dancing and contest, I definitely prefer the 2.5 inch to 3 inch heels. Ballroom dance shoes are designed to make you stand and dance in the correct posture. The higher the heel, the better your posture. Don’t be put off by the higher heel if the first couple of times you wear them, you are uncomfortable or the balls of your feet hurt some. It takes a little while to get used to them, but you will get used to them and then you won’t dance in less height.
