Social ballroom dancing is completely different from competitive ballroom dancing.
Lessons are taught for either of the dances. Competitive dancing is taught to more detail than is social dancing. Social dancing is also taught in a class type setting and competitive dancing is taught by private lessons. Competitive dancers normally wear 2 1/2 - 3 1/2″ high heals and social dancers normally wear the lower heel ballroom dance shoes. Even though these are not hard facts, this is the way it normally goes. Obviously the private lessons don’t have to be just for competition, but can also be for people that need to know the exact way to do things. The class type lessons will be more economical than the private lessons. So, no matter what you are looking for, you are sure to find something to satisfy you in ballroom dancing.
