Up until recently, classical dances styles have not garnered major attention from the mainstream media. It seems that one show has singlehandedly reversed this trend: Dancing with the Stars. Although I have only seen clips and pieces of the show, I know that it has a devout following of millions of fans.
One of my favorite contestants on the show is the noted conservative politician Tom Delay. No matter what your political affiliation, you have to like seeing one of the nation’s most influential people dancing—quite poorly—on national television. He even donned all of the appropriate garb, including authentic costumes and dance shoes.
