Each of the popular forms of ballroom dance has its own unique history, music, and dance steps. Ballroom dance classes are a terrific way to explore each of the dances and master the steps. You can take classes that provide an overview of all of the main styles or you take ballroom dance lessons that focus on one specific dance such as the foxtrot. To dance a great foxtrot you will need to wear ballroom dance shoes instead of street shoes. The ballroom dance shoes are made for ballroom dancing and are worn only on smooth dance floors.
If you’re wondering how to find ballroom dance lessons, it’s not difficult. Many cities offer inexpensive ballroom dancing lessons through their recreation departments as do many community colleges. These classes can be fun to take with your partner and other couples as well as on your own. You’ll have fun as you learn the moves together. Don’t worry if you’re on your own; your dance teacher will team you up with a dance partner.
