Local dance schools often teach ballroom dancing, (you can buy
practice ballroom dance shoes while learning the dances, this will make it easier on your feet). While many dance studios cater to teaching little kids ballet and tap, you’ll often find that they also offer classes for adults. If you’re uncomfortable with the thought of a bunch of little girls running around in pink leotards, find out if they offer the adult classes during alternative hours. For example, an 8:00 p.m. ballroom dance class won’t likely be running at the same time as a “Tiny Tots” tap class.
Specialized dance schools such as Arthur Murray are located across the nation. Arthur Murray Dance Studios are one of the oldest franchises in America with a history of teaching ballroom dance for over 90 years. Many of these studios offer a free introductory lesson so you can get a feel for the program before joining.
